CacheCade volumes can be created from a CacheCade volume database or from a CacheCade file. To create a CacheCade volume database, load CacheCade Advanced Software. (CacheCade Server 2.0.1 and later only.) Select the CacheCade .exe File menu option to load CacheCade Advanced Software.
After loading CacheCade Advanced Software, select Create a new CacheCade file .
Next, select the Create a new CacheCade volume database .
Select Create cache volume. The following menu will be displayed.
Select the appropriate CacheCade volume.
Enter the name for the CacheCade volume and click OK.
If CacheCade Advanced Software is being used with the CacheCade Virtual drive feature, you can also use the CacheCade .exe File menu option to load CacheCade Advanced Software. Select the CacheCade .exe File menu option to load CacheCade Advanced Software.
Next, select Create a new CacheCade database file .
Select Create cache volume .
As a device driver, CacheCade performs the same functions as a standard SCSI driver. This is referred to as a "virtual drive."
CacheCade is a client driver that provides virtual drive functionality on a Storage Controller. When CacheCade is installed on a host computer, CacheCade can operate as a client or a Storage Controller.
CacheCade is installed on a Storage Controller as a client driver and Virtual Drive. If CacheCade is installed on a host computer as a virtual drive, CacheCade can operate as a client or a Storage Controller.
If CacheCade is being used as a client, CacheCade can function as a client for only one Storage Controller. When CacheCade is used as a client, CacheCade can function as a Storage Controller for up to two virtual drives.
When CacheCade is installed as a virtual drive on a Storage Controller, CacheCade can function as a Storage Controller. When CacheCade is installed as a client on a host computer, CacheCade can function as a Storage Controller for up to two virtual drives.
